If you want it to be successful in identifying your handwriting, then the book shows how you should train your input of letters, digits and symbols. For the Zire handheld, this little book gives a quick runthrough of what you can do. Like being back in primary school. Despite the small screen and pad, a surprising amount of features is packed into it. Perhaps the hardest item to master might be the handwriting recognition system. But with practice, you should soon pick it up.The book also shows how digital colour photos can be stored and viewed. I'm not sure how widely useful this will be, compared to the handwriting.

The information in this book tends to be very simple and basic. What's more of a "value-for-the money" problem, though, is that the Getting Started guide included as a PDF file on the CD that comes with your Zire has most of the information in this book. I suppose it might be helpful for those new to Palm handhelds, but anyone who has ever used one before won't learn much. That's not necessarily a criticism of the book, but the target audience is definitely the Palm novice. If you're a Zire owner, why pay for something that you already have. If you need more than the documentation that comes with your handheld, look for a book that is more advanced - and thus more useful - than this one.
